One of the Lufthansa’s largest Analytical Data Warehouse (ADW) system collects, processes and provides data on:
- customers,
- tickets,
- journeys,
- B2B contracts,
- loyalty systems,
- and many more customer-related topics.
The whole is supplemented by information on planned and executed flights.
Such enterprise requires many engineers and architects for the realization.
In this recruitment, we are looking for Data Architect with strong interest in business topics and data as such.
The architect should be the counterpart for business to the discussions about new ideas and requirements.
The person shouldn’t be focused on a data technology, but should bring in strong experience with data, SQL and optimization of data processes.
Target technology will be in first place Analytical Data Warehouse with Teradata Ventage technology behind supported by bash scripting. Knowledge of Cloud technologies at all would be an advantage but is not must have.
It’s a position which should last a long time because it will take time to get the understanding of the data and processes in ADW.

Who are you?
- Min. 5 years of commercial experience in Data Engineering,
- Min. 2 years of commercial experience in Data Architecture,
- Fluent communication in English (speaking and writing),
- Strong communication and team player skills,
- Active attitude towards proposing new solutions and improvements in current environment,
- Ability to work independently and collaborate as part of a team,
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills,
- We are looking for a candidate who is based in the Tri-city area or is willing to visit Gdańsk.
What do we welcome?
- Experience with Azure Data Engineering (Data Bricks, Data Factory, Synapse, Fabric),
- Experience with Teradata.
Why do we need you?
The architect sought in this recruitment will be responsible for the following areas:
- Understanding the data domains and data itself in ADW,
- Acting as overarching architect of ADW,
- Development of ideas how to improve ADW in regards of processes, handling, data areas, data layers,
- Analysis and proposal of architectural changes of ADW,
- Support for Data Catalog topic,
- Doing PoC for new approaches in ADW in relation to potential technology changes,
- Suggesting and driving improvements / optimizations in ETL scripts,
- Finding relation between business requirements and existing data model,
- Identification of new necessary data sources based on business requirements,
- Providing proof-of-concepts in cooperation with business,
- Guiding and supporting the team in ADW developments,
- Taking over guidance and negotiations with external providers like Microsoft or Databricks,
- Finding solutions for challenging topics beyond day-to-day development.
